Why Slices Cost More Than Strokes

After three years of golfing, I have come to an ugly conclusion. I need to correct my slice. I sat down one day, and calculated some factors that are affected by by wicked slice on the golf course. This is a list of what it costs if you do not correct your slice.

1. ENERGY I realized that I end up walking up more hills and dunes, down into the woods, across other fairways, etc. By the end of the round, I am so exhausted I cannot go another nine. This may not sound like a factor, but believe me, once you correct your slice, you will notice a jump in your energy after 18.

2. RIDICULE Everyone I golf with knew I had a terrible slice. It got to the point that they would joke about waiting for people on other holes to keep an eye on me. I really got fed up with their jokes. I had two choices: correct my slice, or quit golfing. Remember, golf is a mental game, and if you are the subject of ridicule on every hole, it is hard to concentrate.

3. MONEY This one is a given. When I calculated how much money I lost from my slice, I was astounded. When I looked at the balls I had to buy just to remain in the game, I almost lost my mind. This is the number one reason I decided to correct my slice. When I was buying a dozen golf balls every two or three rounds, I new something had to give.

Correcting a slice doesn't have to be difficult. It takes a few buckets at the range, and some practice. Just remember, the next time you think your slice is a matter of just a stroke or two, think again.
